Professor Gerry Byrne
Professor Dr.-Ing Gerry Byrne is the Director of the AMS Research Centre which is based in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering at University College Dublin. Professor Byrne is a Fellow of CIRP and incoming President beginning in MIT in 2009. He is a former Chairman of the CIRP Editorial Board and is currently Chairman of the Scientific Technical Committee "Cutting" (STC"C"). He is a former Dean of Engineering at UCD. Professor Byrne is a former President of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and of the Irish Academy of Engineering. He is an International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK [FREng] and a life time Fellow of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (USA).

Dr. Garret O Donnell is a University lecturer in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in Trinity College Dublin and a research affiliate member of CIRP. Garret's research activity in Trinity College Dublin is based on advancing manufacturing technologies that underpin sectors such as biomedical, automotive, aerospace, and ICT. His principal research area is the process monitoring of machining processes with goals of understanding the fundamental science, developing new sensor concepts, signal processing algorithms, intelligent decision making strategies and adaptronic control systems for high performance cutting processes.
